Just a steady stream of derelicts
In search of someplace warm.
Certain cities on the mainland
Solved their problems in the street
By rounding up their vagabonds
For a tropical retreat.

They come from Cincinnati
They’re in-bound from LA
With some flimsy airline blankets
They scrounged along the way

They come with empty pockets
They come with empty eyes
Staking out a stretch of sidewalk
In a homeless paradise

But in the high-end shops on Ala Moana
Not a vagrant to be found
Cause the city cops have chased them
All the way to Chinatown
On the pristine sands of Waikiki
I’ll spend Christmas with the wife
Oh how we love our island life

A bedroom made of asphalt
The ceiling full of stars
Dinner’s at the dumpster
Down the street by Murphy’s Bar

It’s a fabulous vacation
But soon they’ll pay the price
When they learn there’s no return
From this homeless paradise
